@Dietmar

I am running php 4.4.4, with safemode OFF.

@David

An interim release with Global Preferences would be the best solution in my humble opinion.

Hey guys,

you'll find a current SVN version with reenabled global preferences and some other bugfixes in the attachment.

Regards
David

P.S.: Seems like some kind of nightly builds would be usefull...

Perhaps a "sticky" topic in the forum where we can find the most recent SVN builds?

David,

some comments to the current SVN version with reenabled global preferences:

Installation:
Deinstall of previous easybook --> ok.
Install of current version --> error updating the bad word filter table -insert failed. I truncated the table - then installation worked.

Global preferences:
1. Yes - they are back at EasyBook/ManageEntries/Parameters - but the settings made here are not beeing used
I tested - setting the value "entries per page" to 10  and enabled captcha - but default of 5 entries is shown - and creating new entries no captcha is shown.

2. the parameters are still available when editing the menu item and if I change things here - they are used.

Cheers - Dietmar

Menu settings overrule the global settings. (Default joomla behaviour)

So if you set the component to show 10, the menu default is still 5.

Always make sure the component settings are as strict and secure as possible, thus making it as difficult as possible for spammers and the likes. And set your menu settings to your liking.

Peter - yes -that what menu settings are for

But I thought , that if I change the global settings in the Paramter Section from  Components/EasyBook/ManageEntries/Parameters
to be used as default - if I create a new guestbook menu item.

e.g. if I set the value "entries per page" to 10  I expect to have this paramter set as default for the new created Easybook menu item.

Hi Dietmar,

The thing is that the default parameters of the menu item don't refer to the global preferences of the component but to the default values which are set in the xml files and in the code.
That's the way the J! parameter system works - you can dicuss whether this makes sense or not, but currently there's nothing that i could change on that.

David

P.s.: your mysql bug has been fixed in the svn

I am getting tons of spam in my guestbook. What should I do? I have installed the SVN version(what does SVN stand for?), is there something else i must do?

Very nice guestbook but a little irritating with the spam...
